New book - Rainy Days in the Lake District

Due out in February 2012 is this new style (for me) publication from Frances Lincoln (cover price £9.99). This smallish but fat paperback presents the Lake District in a light that many may have experienced but one that is little photographed. There is humour and pathos as well as stunning landscapes.
Aberystwyth starling roost fest

As dusk approaches, countless starlings gather over the rooftops at Aberystwyth making swirling patterns in the sky. Then in squadrons, they abruptly descend to take up roosting perches under the pier.

Gardens this summer

The busiest yet! In conjunction with my writing partner, Tim Longville, along with resumption of illustrating garden articles for Cumbria Life, I am photographing gardens as far apart as Dorset and Caithness (but fortunately not all counties in between). Highlights so far have been Parnham House at Beaminster and Bramham Park near Wetherby (photo) where I was very grateful…
